Title: Bartender
Objective: The primary purpose of a bartender is to create and control the Scioto Experience for members in contact with Food & Beverage. The bartender must take ownership of the members in the restaurant and deliver an exceptional dining experience while working together with the rest of the team.
Responsibilities and Expectations:

Enhance the member experience through recommendation of wine, liquor, and food selection

Completely know and understand all beverage products offered along with all food menus
-
Upsell products and build confidence with members
-
Create signature cocktails and wine pairings for the club, highlighting daily, weekly, and monthly specials
-
Assist in the design and creative physical appearance of the bar
-
Assist with the beverage organization, inventory, and storage
-
Assist with ordering of product, PAR levels and beverage menu design
-
Provide feedback to management involving member preference and menu items
-
Be completely fluent in Point-of-Sale transactions and end of shift reports
-
Wash and maintain all glassware and utensils used at the bar and in the restaurant
-
Properly serve cocktails, wine, and beer to industry standards
-
Serve food to members at the bar and, depending on manager’s discretion, throughout the dining room

Check identification of members to make sure they meet age requirements for purchase of alcohol and tobacco products.

Consult with management to determine if a member has had too much alcohol
-
Clean up after members and clean work area.

Constantly display a friendly and welcoming personality to all members and staff
-
Attend pre-service meetings and communicate questions, comments and concerns to other staff members to improve the beverage experience for our membership

Participate in ongoing training and assist with the development of training methods, concepts, and exercises for the beverage operation
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations:

Stocks bar and completes other pre-opening requirements.

Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.

Skilled at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverage service when necessary.

Complies with basic safety and sanitation requirements.

Good organizational skills.

Basic knowledge of club’s POS system or comparable POS system preferred.

Knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operations, including events and operating hours.

Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).

Ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.

Cleans bar and completes other pre-closing requirements.

Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.

Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Physical Requirements, Working Conditions and Other factors:
-
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by club environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and outdoors (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.

Position requires walking and standing for long periods of time. The length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.

Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.

Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
-
Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch occasionally.

Must maintain proper hygiene, following the standard and cleanliness of appearance and uniform.

Must have reliable transportation.

Must follow the standards, guidelines, rules of the employee handbook.

Must be able to be off your cellular telephone during your shift.
Education and Experience:
-
High school degree completed
-
Minimum of two years bartending experience
-
Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages.
