Bartender

Alma San Juan is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Old San Juan, offering two unique and vibrant restaurants: Andaluz and Mar y Rosa.

We are looking for dynamic Bartenders to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mixology, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and Serve Beverages: Mix, garnish, and serve drinks to guests, ensuring quality and consistency. Follow recipes for signature cocktails, and create new drink specials as needed.
• Guest Service: Greet guests warmly and interact with them to create a positive, engaging experience. Offer recommendations, answer questions about the menu, and ensure guest satisfaction throughout their visit.
• Maintain Bar Cleanliness: Keep the bar area clean, organized, and stocked. Clean glasses, bar equipment, and surfaces, and ensure all areas meet hygiene and safety standards.
• Monitor Alcohol Consumption: Ensure that alcoholic beverages are served responsibly and in accordance with all local laws and regulations. Monitor guest behavior and intervene when necessary to prevent over-serving.
• Inventory Management: Track inventory levels of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, mixers, and bar supplies. Assist with ordering and restocking as needed. Ensure the proper handling of liquor and other products to minimize waste.
• Check Identification: Verify the age of guests to ensure compliance with legal drinking age laws. Refuse service to underage guests or those showing signs of intoxication.
• Upselling: Suggest and promote drink specials, upsell premium liquors, and encourage guests to order additional items to increase sales and enhance their experience.
• Process Payments: Accurately process customer payments through cash, credit/debit card transactions, or mobile payment apps. Provide receipts and change as needed.
• Handle Customer Complaints: Address guest complaints or concerns in a polite, professional manner. Resolve issues efficiently or escalate them to management as necessary.
• Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with servers, barbacks, and management to ensure efficient service and a seamless guest experience. Communicate effectively during busy shifts.
• Clean and Close Bar: At the end of the shift, clean the bar area, restock supplies, and perform closing duties. Ensure the bar is ready for the next shift and all equipment is stored properly.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in bartending, mixology, or hospitality is a plus.
• Experience: Previous experience as a bartender.
• Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of drink recipes, mixing techniques, and cocktail presentation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle high-volume service times.
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and processing payments.
• Familiarity with alcohol laws and responsible service practices.
• Full-time or part-time position with flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the business.
