Bartender

Position Summary

The City of Pharr is seeking a Bartender to support full-service bar operations with a strong focus on guest experience and regulatory compliance. This role exists to ensure timely, accurate beverage service while maintaining safe, orderly, and efficient bar standards.

Key responsibilities include preparing and serving alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages; verifying age identification and adhering to all TABC requirements; operating a POS system; handling cash and reconciling sales, drops, and drawer balances; monitoring inventory and reporting shortages; supporting approved menu updates and promotions; addressing guest questions or concerns; and maintaining sanitation, food safety, and bar-area cleanliness. Occasional food preparation may be required.

Required qualifications/skills:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of bartending/food service/hospitality experience
  • POS proficiency, cash handling, customer service, time management, and ethical conduct
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler and TABC certifications
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

How Your Shift Flows

Your shift begins with a quick check of the bar setup and readiness for service. You stay physically present, on time, and responsive as guest traffic changes throughout the day. During peak periods and special events, you coordinate smoothly with teammates, keep communication clear, and adapt to updated priorities. You may attend City-sponsored trainings or meetings as scheduled.
