Scope
Michter’s Distillery is seeking a Full Time Bartender to work at our Fort Nelson Distillery at The Bar at Fort Nelson located at 801 W Main St., Louisville, KY 40202. This will be an opportunity to become involved in the bourbon industry, one of Kentucky’s finest traditions while being involved in a world-class cocktail bar program. This position will report to the Assistant General Manager and is responsible for delivering the highest standard of quality and hospitality experience. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Primary Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate consistent high standards of guest interaction, service, quality, sanitation, execution, and consistency.
- Maintain all Health Department requirements and monitor daily.
- Ensure ambiance and experience meets standards for day and nighttime service including but not limited to, greeting, speed of service, connection with guests, lighting, music, sensory perception, warmth, aesthetic, cleanliness, presentation, vibe.
- Engage consumers to the portfolio of Michter’s and Chatham products through stories and historical significance of cocktails.
- Provide world class service, innovative and outstanding drinks, and lasting memories to guests.
- Responsible for learning and executing alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, flights, and coffee to the standards and consistency set forth by The Bar at Fort Nelson.
- Responsible for cleanliness, maintenance and setup and breakdown of all bar equipment and upholding health department standards.
- Responsible for supporting other bartenders and team members with a world class mindset.
- Be a positive influence in the workplace and build strong relationships with colleagues.
- Provide all aspects of service as needed (i.e., bus tables, assist with glassware, take orders, run drinks, interact with guests, provide checks, process payments and closeout with customers including evaluation of their experience.)
- Manage reservations system (RESY) and coordinate door and guest flow into bar.
- Advise AGM/GM immediately of issues/needs.
- Lead tour cocktail demonstrations (if/when needed).
- Assist with opening and closing activities.
- Provide support to Fort Nelson team as directed.
- Maintain compliance with all local, federal and state laws.
- Any other responsibilities as defined by the management team.
Experience
- Knowledge of serving, bar backing, bartending is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience in the spirits industry a plus.
- Knowledge of the bourbon industry is preferred but not required.
