Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled, charismatic Bartender who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. At Otto Izakaya, our bar is a focal point of the guest experience. You won't just be mixing drinks; you will be guiding guests through our extensive beverage menu, pairing craft cocktails and sake with our signature dishes, and setting the energy for the entire room.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft & Execute: Prepare and serve premium craft cocktails, sake, beer, and wine efficiently, adhering strictly to house recipes, precise ratios, and presentation standards.
- Elevated Guest Experience: Welcome guests warmly, provide engaging and knowledgeable menu descriptions, offer expert pairing suggestions (sushi, ramen, yakitori), and maintain a high level of hospitality.
- Bar Operations & Prep: Maintain a pristine, organized, and fully stocked bar setup. Efficiently batch syrups, prep fresh garnishes, and manage inventory throughout the shift.
- Service Bar Efficiency: Promptly and accurately execute drink orders for the dining room to support the serving staff and ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Compliance & Safety: Strictly verify guest identification to ensure legal drinking age. Responsibly monitor alcohol consumption and adhere to all South Carolina liquor laws and safety standards.
- Financial Precision: Accurately ring in orders, handle cash and card payments through the POS system, and manage a balanced drawer.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 2+ years of bartending experience in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant or craft cocktail lounge.
- Beverage Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of classic cocktail structures, spirits, and mixing techniques. A familiarity with (or a strong desire to learn about) sake, Japanese whisky, and Asian flavor profiles is highly preferred.
- Speed & Focus: Ability to stay calm, organized, and friendly while managing a packed bar rail and a heavy ticket well simultaneously.
- Availability: Flexibility to work late nights, weekends, and peak restaurant hours.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, move, and lift up to 40 lbs (ice, liquor cases, kegs) during an 8+ hour shift.
