Overview
Ladyfish is a high-energy, seasonal seafood pop-up coming to Portland’s Old Port this spring. A collaboration between Jordan Rubin (Food & Wine 2025 Best New Chef) and James Beard-nominated Chef Christine Lau, Ladyfish occupies the former Bar Futo space for a limited summer run (May-October).
Our menu will blend approachable seafood classics with Chef Lau’s expertise in Chinese, Italian, and Latin American cuisines, utilizing exceptional Maine-sourced ingredients. We are looking for a bartender who is passionate about hospitality and excited to serve a menu that is both familiar and innovative.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options, following all safety and quality standards.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, energetic manner to enhance their dining or nightlife experience.
- Manage Toast POS systems for accurate order processing and cash handling.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensuring food safety and proper food handling procedures are followed.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking supplies to ensure smooth service throughout shifts.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cashiering duties and retail math calculations for sales and tips.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and servers during busy hours to coordinate service seamlessly in both fine dining and nightclub settings.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience as a bartender in fast paced, high volume environments.
- Familiarity with Toast POS systems is a plus.
- Beer, wine, cocktail knowledge.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during high-volume shifts.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests positively and professionally.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, food handling procedures, and alcohol serving regulations.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and sales tracking.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced setting.
