POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the set-up and maintenance of bar area. Prepare drink orders, provide table service for guests at the bar and in the restaurant/lounge, and upsell menu items.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Make and serve drinks to guests and restaurant servers, using Marriott beverage standards and procedures, beverage manual and recipe book as references.
  • Set-up and break down bar according to standards, including proper liquor lock up.
  • Follow all procedures and policies regarding beverage control per Marriott standards.
  • Welcome guests. Listen to determine beverage preferences. Make recommendations and take drink orders.
  • Share ideas with the Executive Chef and F&B Supervisor about drink menus, inform customers about new beverages and specials.
  • Check identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  • Take inventory and inform the Executive Chef or F&B Supervisor if supplies are needed to ensure the bar is well stocked.
  • Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
  • Maintain a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
  • Each associate is expected to complete, within their ability, all reasonable requests by management.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Experience: 2 years’ experience as bartender preferred

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of kitchen appliances and tools, both their proper use and how to clean them.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to: perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy. Prioritize and organize. Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. Follow directions thoroughly. Understand guest’s service needs. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. Work with minimal supervision. Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
