Bartender/Server - Tasting Room & Bar

BARTENDER/SERVER, TENTH WARD DISTILLING COMPANY

Tenth Ward is a craft distillery established in 2016, and located in the heart of downtown Frederick, Maryland. We are a woman-owned, locally operated and specialize in unconventional spirits. Our downtown location acts as our tasting room and retail space, Frederick's premier craft cocktail bar, local live music stage, and a private event space. Our staff educate, entertain, and welcome spirit enthusiasts, first timers, our dedicated club membership, and our local community with honed service skills and top notch hospitality.

The Bartender/Server may work with the Lead Bartender and/or General Manager to facilitate all aspects of service in the Cocktail Lab setting to include, but not limited to the following:

• Menu Tours and Guided Tastings
• Taking, Ringing and Delivering Orders, and Processing Payments
• Preparing and Garnishing Craft Cocktails, Spirit and Cocktail Flights
• Facilitating Club Member Sign-ups and Pick-ups
• Upselling Retail and Take-Home Products
• Ensuring a clean work environment & completing all assigned sidework
• Preparing and Stocking Products, Tools, Garnishes, and Merchandise

The Bartender/Server will work a set schedule, with the opportunity for requested time off and abilty to pick up shifts outside of normal schedule. Number of hours/shifts will depend upon availability. The Bartender/Server is expected to attend all Quarterly Meetings, participate in all required trainings, and maintain the required certifications as outlined by local alcohol jurisdictions.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Front of House: Warmly interact with our guests to educated them about Tenth Ward Distilling and our unique spirits, canned cocktails and craft cocktails, while maintaining a professional demeanor, elevating both the brand and our products. Recommending items for purchase and highlighting Club Membership in addition to regular service of tables and guests seated at the bar.
• Back of House: Completing all bar prep work including, but not limited too: Cutting fruit and other garnishes, making syrups and other mixers, cleaning, bar set up, restocking, marrying bottles, filling ice, and other duties as assigned.
• Inventory: Monitoring and stocking all bar inventory, supplies and merchandise as needed. Timely communication with management of low-stock or unavailable items.
• Mixology: Adhere to all Tenth Ward recipes and techniques. The Bartender/Server may assist with development of new cocktails and suggestions for new products.
• Sales: Reach sales goals in relation to bottle/can sales and new club sign ups.
• Professional Development: Stay up to date with current industry standards and best practices, grow understanding of current industry trends and participate in Tenth Ward required trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years of experience in the restaurant, bar or hospitality industry
• Mixology experience is a plus
• Ability to be quick and efficient during busy service
• Attention to detail supporting product quality controls and brand standard
• Customer service skills and effective communication

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Candidate must be over 21 years of age, able to lift 50 lbs and be able to work on feet most of the day. The bar area is narrow and requires teammates to work in close proximity to eachother. All Health & Saftey regulations must be adhered to at all times. All employees are required to maintain current responsible alcohol service certification, and conduct themselves within the guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook.
