Must Have:
- Battery Chemical Sourcing knowledge (mandatory).
- Technical background: B.Tech / M.Tech.
- Relevant streams: Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, EV & Battery Technology.
Functional Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to assess vendor manufacturing capabilities for chemical synthesis, purification, and packaging.
- Understanding of particle size distribution, purity specifications, surface area (BET), and trace impurity levels.
- Knowledge of REACH, RoHS, TSCA, GHS/CLP, and DG shipping requirements.
- Strong cost analysis capability and experience in price negotiations while ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead supplier qualification for Silicon, Aluminium and Carbon-based specialty chemicals.
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits to verify manufacturing capabilities and compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Review Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) and other quality documents to confirm purity, moisture content, and absence of harmful impurities.
- Ensure suppliers adhere to regulatory and environmental requirements (REACH, RoHS, TSCA) and proper hazardous material handling.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, NDAs, and risk clauses; perform cost benchmarking and commercial evaluations.
- Collaborate with R&D to evaluate and integrate new material grades based on battery application performance (e.g., SEI formation, electrolyte compatibility).
- Support vendors with training on advanced handling practices, regulatory updates, and encourage certification adoption (ISO 45001 / 14001).
- Monitor packaging and storage conditions to prevent moisture or dust contamination during transport.
- Develop and maintain a diversified, qualified vendor base to mitigate supply chain and geopolitical risks.
