A Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) Engineer creates detailed schedules for reinforced concrete structures by translating structural drawings into lists of steel rebar quantities, sizes, and bending details. This role involves analyzing drawings, preparing accurate schedules using software like MS Excel and AutoCAD, coordinating with site teams for proper execution, and ensuring the project meets structural integrity and quality standards. Key responsibilities

  • Analyze structural drawings: Study and interpret structural plans and specifications to understand reinforcement requirements.
  • Prepare the Bar Bending Schedule (BBS): Create detailed schedules listing the type, size, length, number, and bending details for each reinforcing bar.
  • Coordinate with site teams: Liaise with site engineers, supervisors, and contractors to ensure bars are cut, bent, and placed correctly according to the BBS.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance: Verify that all calculations are correct and that the reinforcement placement complies with design specifications and quality standards to maintain structural integrity.
  • Use software and tools: Utilize software like MS Excel for calculations and scheduling, and AutoCAD for preparing shop drawings.
  • Address design discrepancies: Collaborate with design teams to resolve any issues or inconsistencies found in the structural drawings.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Diploma in Civil Engineering is typically required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in BBS preparation and rebar detailing is common. Experience in infrastructure projects is often preferred.
  • Software proficiency: Strong skills in MS Excel and AutoCAD are essential.
  • Technical knowledge: Knowledge of relevant Indian (IS) codes and an ability to read structural drawings are crucial

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
