Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Gastroenterologist to join our esteemed medical team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal disorders, utilizing advanced medical imaging, endoscopy, and other specialized procedures. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including medical history review and physical examinations focused on gastrointestinal health.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, and gastric lavage with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management, lifestyle modifications, and procedural interventions like Botulinum toxin treatment when appropriate.
- Utilize advanced imaging techniques including CT scans and radiology procedures such as interventional radiography and vascular interventional radiography to aid diagnosis.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient cases, coordinating care plans across multidisciplinary teams including hospital medicine, critical care units, and surgical departments.
- Engage in clinical research studies related to gastroenterology, hepatology, or related subspecialties such as hepatology or nutrition.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards such as CPT and ICD coding.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in gastroenterology, including telehealth services and minimally invasive procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in gastroenterology with a strong background in performing endoscopic procedures (e.g., ERCP, EUS).
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms.
- Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers or hospital settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of related specialties including hepatology, internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology, or neurology is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases involving acute pain management, post-operative care, or chronic disease management such as diabetes care or immunology.
- Prior involvement in clinical trials or research projects related to gastrointestinal health is a plus.
