BCBA Trainee / Behavior Technician (Fieldwork Position)

Beyond Behavior Consulting, LLC | Santa Barbara / Central Coast, CA

Pay: $26–$30/hr DOE | Part-time to full-time (20–40 hrs/week) | BACB fieldwork supervision provided

ABOUT BEYOND BEHAVIOR CONSULTING

Beyond Behavior Consulting, LLC is a growing, values-driven behavior consulting practice based on the Central Coast of California. We provide naturalistic, play-based ABA services and behavioral support across the lifespan — rooted in real behavior science, delivered in plain language, with heart.

Our founder, Laurice Seely (BCBA, M.S., PPS, ADHD-CCSP), has been in the field since 2009 and is committed to building a practice where clients thrive and staff grow. We are expanding our Santa Barbara caseload and are looking for a dedicated BCBA trainee to grow with us.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an ideal position for someone who is actively enrolled in a BCBA certification program and looking for high-quality supervised fieldwork experience with a hands-on BCBA mentor. You will carry your own caseload of clients in the Santa Barbara area, receive structured BACB-compliant supervision, and have real opportunities to practice the full range of BCBA competencies.

This is not just a job — it's a training ground. You will be mentored directly by a BCBA with deep clinical experience across ABA, school psychology, and behavioral consulting. As our caseload grows, so does your role. We anticipate this position growing into full-time.

REQUIREMENTS (all three are required — please do not apply if any are not met)

  • Active RBT certification — must be current and in good standing with the BACB at time of application
  • Bachelor's degree — in psychology, education, ABA, or a related field
  • Currently enrolled in a BCBA certification program — active enrollment in a BACB-verified master's program in ABA or related field at time of application

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide direct ABA services in clients' homes in the Santa Barbara area (Buellton to Montecito corridor)
  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans under BCBA supervision
  • Conduct skills assessments, preference assessments, and progress monitoring
  • Write session notes, data sheets, and program updates
  • Participate in parent training and caregiver coaching sessions
  • Attend bi-weekly supervision meetings (counts toward BACB fieldwork hours)
  • Collaborate with school teams and outside providers as appropriate
  • Accrue unrestricted and restricted fieldwork hours toward BCBA certification

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience working with individuals with autism, ADHD, or related developmental differences
  • Strong data collection skills and solid foundation in behavioral principles
  • Excellent communication with families — warm, jargon-free, and culturally responsive
  • Reliable transportation and valid CA driver's license (in-home position)
  • Passion for naturalistic, relationship-based ABA — not drill-based approaches
  • Self-starter who can manage a flexible schedule and work independently between supervision contacts

WHAT WE OFFER

  • $26–$30/hour depending on experience — with increases as caseload and responsibilities grow
  • Structured BACB-compliant supervision — individual and group — logged and documented
  • Direct mentorship from a BCBA, M.S., PPS with 15+ years of experience
  • Flexible scheduling — we work around your coursework and life
  • Mileage reimbursement for in-home sessions
  • Real clinical experience across diverse cases — ABA, ADHD, autism, behavior support
  • A warm, supportive team culture — we take care of our people
  • Clear path to full-time employment and pay increases upon certification

SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Part-time to start: approximately 20–25 hours per week, with the expectation of growing to full-time as caseload expands. Services are provided in clients' homes across the Santa Barbara area (Buellton to Montecito). Some administrative and documentation work can be done remotely. Flexible scheduling within weekday daytime and early evening hours. We do not require weekend availability, but we do have clients with weekend sessions.
