The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Before and After School Childcare Teacher to join our team. This position provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-age children before and after their regular school day. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth development and committed to supporting children's social, emotional, and academic growth.
Supervise and engage children ages 5-12 in a safe, structured environment
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, games, homework assistance, and recreational activities
Assist children with homework and provide academic support as needed
Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports
Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and YMCA team members
Ensure all children follow program rules and safety guidelines
Prepare and serve snacks following health and safety protocols
Maintain clean and organized program spaces
Support children's social and emotional development through positive guidance techniques
Hours: 25-29 hours per week
Morning Shift: Approximately 6:15 AM - 9:00 AM (before school)
Afternoon Shift: Approximately 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM (after school)
Days: Monday through Friday during the school year
Additional hours may be available during school holidays and summer programs
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or related field
Experience in before/after school programs or similar childcare settings
Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) a plus
Youth sports or activity leadership experience
