Primary Function

The Behavior Support Service and Support Administrator is responsible for identifying, developing, implementing, and monitoring behavioral support strategies and risk-reduction plans for individuals with developmental disabilities, including children, teens, and adults. Work is performed under the guidance of the Manager of Service and Support Administration.

This role involves extensive collaboration with individuals, families, caregivers, schools, early intervention teams, and community partners to create supportive environments and promote positive behavioral outcomes. The position emphasizes family-centered practices, child-specific behavioral strategies, and caregiver support, ensuring that interventions are trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with individual needs. Duties also include training, assessment, and monitoring to enhance the quality of life and developmental progress of individuals served.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Behavior Support

  • Serve as the entry point for all behavior support referrals, including those involving children and families.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to understand home dynamics, communication styles, routines, and factors influencing behavior.
  • Identify and recommend supports such as community resources, behavioral interventions, parent-coaching strategies, trauma-informed care, and restrictive measures when appropriate.
  • Develop and implement behavioral strategies integrated into Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and other child-focused documents when applicable.
  • Tailor behavior support strategies to developmental stages, including play-based, visual, sensory, and communication-focused approaches for children.
  • Facilitate annual reviews of plans with restrictions with the Human Rights Committee (HRC).
  • Provide technical assistance and training to agency staff, providers, families, and school personnel regarding behavior support strategies.
  • Coordinate and model behavior strategies with staff, caregivers, teachers, and other stakeholders.

Behavioral Assessment & Monitoring

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of behavioral patterns through interviews, observations, and record reviews, including homes, schools, and childcare environments.
  • Engage families in the assessment process, gathering information about developmental history, routines, motivators, and communication needs.
  • Conduct 90-day reviews of plans with restrictive measures in collaboration with individuals, families, and providers.
  • Monitor implementation of positive interventions, restrictive measures, and rights restrictions to ensure safety and progress toward fading restrictions.
  • Analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations to improve behavioral support plans.
  • Collaborate with SSAs, schools, legal systems, early intervention teams, mental health providers, and community agencies to ensure coordinated supports for children and families.

Training

  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training for agency staff, providers, families, and community members on behavior support strategies, trauma-informed care, person-centered practices, and positive culture initiatives.
  • Offer family-based coaching and education, including strategies for managing challenging behaviors, improving communication, and establishing consistent routines.
  • Facilitate training on restrictive measures, rights restrictions, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Develop training materials, presentations, and manuals tailored to identified needs, including resources for families and youth-serving providers.

Other Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality of records, information, and program matters.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions to stay current with trends in behavioral support, child development, and family systems.
  • Provide exemplary customer service through courteous and responsive interactions with staff, providers, individuals supported, their families, and the community.
  • Adhere to WyCBDD policies and procedures.
  • Professionally represent WyCBDD in the community.
  • Comply with safety rules established for Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, including proper use of protective equipment and decontamination techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or agency leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, or related field.
  • Experience working with children, families, or youth with developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
  • Eligible for and able to obtain/maintain Ohio DODD Service and Support Administration Certification.
  • Ability and willingness to become certified in Crisis Intervention Train-the-Trainer.
  • Knowledge of individual assessment tools, Medicaid Targeted Case Management, and OAC guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications and data tracking systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present behavioral data effectively using graphs and visual tools.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; may require personal vehicle use.

Equipment Operated

Basic office equipment including telephone, personal computer, and printing/scanning devices.

Working Conditions

  • Must be physically capable of lifting, carrying, and assisting individuals—including children, adolescents, and adults—in a safe manner consistent with training.
  • Work may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, potentially infectious materials, and/or aggressive behavior.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods.
  • Working conditions may require flexibility and may differ from typical public employee environments.

Good attendance is an essential function of this position to ensure consistency in service delivery.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.60 per hour
