Behavioral Health Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor to join our dynamic mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions employing therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support during mental health emergencies
  • Facilitate telehealth sessions to expand access to care for clients in various settings while maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards
  • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, addiction counseling, grief counseling, PTSD care, and gender issues counseling as appropriate
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain detailed medical records and documentation of patient progress in accordance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives aimed at improving behavioral health interventions and patient outcomes
  • Provide specialized support for patients with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or chronic pain conditions through tailored behavioral management strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited institution
  • Valid licensure or certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent credential required by state regulations
  • Proven experience in clinical counseling with a focus on mental health disorders such as PTSD, addiction issues, grief, or behavioral challenges
  • Demonstrated proficiency in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA)
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, geriatrics or individuals with disabilities is highly preferred
  • Strong crisis management skills with the ability to handle emergency situations effectively
  • Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing purposes
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and electronic medical records (EMR) systems ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse populations while maintaining professionalism and empathy

Pay: $20.00 - $65.00 per hour
