Substance Abuse/Mental Health treatment facility in Miami, FL is looking for a Behavioral Health Tech for multiple shifts for weekdays and weekends:
PER DIEM 8:00am - 4:00pm / 4:00pm-12:00am / 12:00am-8:00am
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role in supporting clients during their treatment journey. BHTs are responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment, monitoring client safety, facilitating activities, and providing daily support under the direction of clinical and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision, support, and engagement to clients throughout the day.
- Conduct and document client observations, vital signs, and safety checks as required.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and orientation of new clients.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and structured milieu environment.
- Facilitate or support psychoeducational groups, activities, and community meetings.
- Monitor client behaviors, report concerns to clinical leadership, and assist with interventions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and safety standards.
- Transport clients to appointments or activities (if applicable).
- Support crisis de-escalation using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.
- Accurately complete all required documentation in a timely and professional manner.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with addiction recovery models, 12-step principles, and mental health symptoms.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR).

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, residential care, or similar setting preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if transportation duties apply).
- Ability to maintain boundaries, remain calm under pressure, and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
