Orama is a family-owned Residential Treatment Center (RTC) for adolescent girls, providing a safe and supportive environment that promotes healing, growth, and recovery. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our team and provide direct care and supervision to our clients.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of adolescent clients. This role provides daily supervision, crisis intervention, support with life skills, and helps foster a therapeutic environment where clients can engage meaningfully in treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor clients during daily activities, meals, recreation, and transitions to ensure safety.
- Observe and document client behaviors, moods, and conditions accurately.
- Respond to crises (e.g., self-harm, aggression, mental health emergencies) using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including hygiene, recreation, and social interactions.
- Facilitate non-therapeutic groups (e.g., life skills, anger management, recreation).
- Support clients with mindfulness, coping strategies, and emotional regulation skills.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by following safety protocols and reporting hazards.
- Accurately document progress notes, incidents, and reports in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to support treatment goals and client progress.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s in psychology, social work, or related field preferred).
- Experience working with adolescents in behavioral health, RTC, or therapeutic settings preferred.
- Knowledge of behavioral health disorders, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ensure client safety.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
Job Types: Full-time, Per diem
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
