Behavioral Health Therapist

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Therapist provides comprehensive mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the team that builds and expands therapeutic services within HHSC Kauai Region, through the affiliated 501(c)(3) Kauai Region Medical Group, as well as enhance and hone your clinical skills. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Therapists are expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support holistic patient care and improve behavioral health outcomes within the community.

Hours: This is a 40 hour/week position during business hours 8am-5pm.

Schedule expectations:

· 28-30 sessions/week for full time

· 1 hour of administrative time/day

· Team and clinic meetings

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education:

Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.

Other acceptable licenses may include LMFT, LMHC, or equivalent (depending on state requirements).

Pre-licensed candidates with a strong practicum or work experience may be considered, and would receive licensure supervision through this role.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing behavioral health or clinical counseling services preferred.

Experience working with diverse populations and/or underserved communities is highly desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and evaluations.

- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.

- Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy using evidence-based practices.

- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.

- Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, and community resources.

- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed during work hours

- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and treatment options.

- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement activities.

- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of behavioral health principles, diagnostic criteria, and treatment modalities.

- Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic skills.

- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse populations.

Working Conditions

- Work is performed in a clinical setting.

- May require occasional travel within the service area.

- May involve working with individuals experiencing emotional or behavioral crises.

Preferred Qualifications

- Active LCSW license.

- Experience in nonprofit or community health settings.

- Training in any of the following modalities highly desired: EMDR, Brain Spotting, Exposure Response Prevention, sleep and or/insomnia modalities, Pain Reprocessing Therapy

-Preference for working on the eastside of Kaua’i.

- Bilingual (English/Hawaiian/Spanish/Tagalog/Ilocano or other languages relevant to the community).

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
