Job Overview:

The Belt Fabricator P4 will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and maintaining conveyor belts and related materials for industrial and commercial use. This position requires a skilled individual who has a deep understanding of various belt types, fabrication techniques, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary. The role will require a high level of precision and attention to detail to ensure that belts are manufactured to specification and perform optimally.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Belt Fabrication:

  • Fabricate and assemble conveyor belts according to blueprints, drawings, or specifications.
  • Operate belt fabrication machinery such as presses, belt cutters, and welding tools.
  • Cut, splice, and join belt materials using various techniques like welding, stitching, or adhesive bonding.
  • Ensure that belt assemblies are correctly sized and meet design specifications.

2. Material Handling:

  • Select and prepare the appropriate materials for belt fabrication, including rubber, PVC, or steel core belts.
  • Ensure that raw materials are available and meet quality standards before use in the fabrication process.

3. Inspection and Quality Control:

  • Inspect and test fabricated belts to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
  • Conduct routine checks for defects, damage, or wear, and make necessary repairs.
  • Document and maintain records of inspection and testing results for quality control purposes.

4. Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on fabrication machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or electrical issues with machines used in belt fabrication.

5. Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines when operating machinery and handling materials.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure a safe working environment.

6. Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with other fabricators, supervisors, and quality control teams to meet production goals.
  • Report production progress, delays, or any issues encountered during the fabrication process.
  • Assist in training new fabricators as needed.

Custom Fabrication:

  • Manufacture custom belts as requested by clients or based on specific project requirements.
  • Modify existing belts for repairs or improvements to suit client needs.


SkillsQualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certification in mechanical, manufacturing, or related fields preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in belt fabrication or similar roles.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using belt fabrication tools and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of materials, such as rubber, plastic, and steel, used in belt manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Welding, splicing, and other belt assembly skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • The position involves working in a manufacturing or workshop environment with exposure to noise, heat, and machinery.
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production deadlines.
