Benefits Administrator

Overview
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the administration, coordination, and management of the City's employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering excellent customer service to employees and retirees. The Benefits Administrator will serve as the subject matter expert for benefits, providing guidance on health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave management, including FMLA.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and workers' compensation.
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA, HIPAA, and other relevant employment laws.
  • Manage employee orientation regarding benefits offerings and enrollment processes.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to assess the effectiveness of benefits programs.
  • Collaborate with payroll teams to ensure accurate benefit deductions and reporting.
  • Negotiate contracts with benefits providers to secure competitive offerings for employees.
  • Maintain accurate records in HRIS systems such as Workday, Oracle HCM, or SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Provide support for employee relations issues related to benefits administration.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting related to Medicare and other compliance requirements.
  • Support training and development initiatives related to employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in benefits administration or human resources management.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Dayforce, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or PeopleSoft is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employment & labor law as it pertains to benefits administration.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Strong negotiation skills for managing contracts with vendors.
  • Data analysis skills for evaluating the effectiveness of benefits programs.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and compliance issues related to employee benefits.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
