Details: M-F 8A-4P or 8:30A-4:30P on site at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Position Summary

The Temporary Benefits Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the Benefits team to ensure smooth daily operations. This role will assist with employee benefits administration, with a strong focus on leave administration, data entry, file maintenance, and employee inquiries. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FMLA, disability, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Monitor the Benefits inbox and respond to or distribute emails appropriately.
  • Respond to routine employee benefits questions and escalate complex matters as needed.
  • Support employees and managers on eligibility, rights, and responsibilities under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Connecticut Family & Medical Leave Act (CT FMLA), and Connecticut Paid Leave (CTPL) program.
  • Communicate with employees, managers, HR, and third-party administrators regarding leave status, requirements, and next steps.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain benefits-related documentation, reports, and employee records.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including scanning, filing, and preparing correspondence.
  • Provide backup support to HR team members as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous administrative or HR/benefits experience preferred, particularly in leave management; HR/benefits internship experience a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or HR training preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HRIS/benefits systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
