Beverly Glen Family | Afterschool Nanny

THE JOB DETAILS | A warm, creative family is seeking an after-school nanny to care for their 6.5-year-old child. This role focuses on school pickup, engaging after-school activities, dinner support, and guiding the evening routine. The ideal candidate will foster a fun, structured, and nurturing environment while supporting the child’s development and independence.

Responsibilities include school pickup, planning enriching activities (especially arts, crafts, and nature-based play), preparing simple dinners, assisting with light child-related household tasks, and managing the evening routine, including bath time and bedtime.

THE PARENTING PHILOSPHY & DISCIPLINE | The family follows a progressive and respectful parenting approach. They value clear boundaries paired with empathy and communication.

The nanny should:

  • Get down to the child’s level and explain expectations clearly
  • Offer the child an opportunity to meet expectations before implementing consequences
  • Use natural consequences (e.g., loss of privileges like screen time or dessert) rather than punishment
  • Maintain consistency, patience, and calm communication

Screen time is limited to approximately one hour per day, typically after school. No phone or video game use is permitted.

THE BOY | The child is a bright, curious, and perceptive 6.5-year-old who is funny, sweet, and sensitive. He thrives with engagement and connection.

Interests include:

  • Animals, insects, and reptiles (He has a bearded dragon)
  • Arts and crafts
  • Building projects
  • Board games and card games
  • Swimming and outdoor exploration

Daily Routine:

  • School: 8:45 AM – 3:10 PM
  • Aftercare until approximately 5 PM
  • Dinner around 6:30 PM
  • Bath and wind-down (books) from 7-8 PM
  • Lights out at 8 PM (consistent and important)

Allergies: Eggs, peanuts, and sesame (may cause mild reactions such as nausea or itchiness; no EpiPen required)

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | This family is seeking someone warm, responsible, and engaging who can build a genuine connection with their child.

The ideal nanny is:

  • Creative and enjoys arts, crafts, and hands-on activities
  • Comfortable, encouraging outdoor and nature-based play
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and confident driver
  • Organized and proactive
  • Comfortable with light cooking and tidying related to the child

Personality fit and connection are more important than extensive experience.

THE REQUIREMENTS |

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
  • Safe and confident driver (comfortable navigating hills)
  • Background check and TrustLine registration (or willingness to obtain)
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to prepare simple, child-friendly meals
  • Willingness to assist with light child-related housekeeping (laundry, dishes, tidying)
  • Strong references from previous nanny (ideally), family assistant, or educational roles
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

HE SCHEDULE | Approximately 3-4 days per week (Weds through Friday, possibly 2 Saturdays a month)

  • 16-20 hours per week (Family guaranteeing at least 30 hours every two weeks)
  • Schedule will vary weekly due to a shared custody arrangement (flexibility is essential)

Additional needs may include:

  • Occasional weekend support (a few hours on either Saturday or Sunday)
  • Rare overnight care
  • Flexibility as the family finalizes a more consistent long-term schedule

THE RATE | $25 - $30 per hour (based on experience), plus mileage reimbursement

THE START DATE | Early April 2026

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
