Bi-lingual Somali Speaking Legal Assistant/Paralegal I

Job Summary
We are seeking a Bi-lingual Somali speaking, dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal I to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will provide essential support in immigration law and litigation. Your proactive approach and organizational skills will ensure the smooth operation of our law office by assisting with legal research, document management, case preparation, and administrative tasks. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your legal expertise while contributing to impactful legal work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw and other legal research tools to support case development and legal analysis.
  • Assist in drafting and proofreading legal documents such as, motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Manage case files and document review processes utilizing document management systems to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support attorneys with client interviews and interviews preparation by gathering relevant information and organizing case materials.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and filing systems for all legal documents while ensuring compliance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate project management activities related to complex cases involving multiple legal areas such as landlord-tenant law or tribal regulations.
  • Provide executive administrative support including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, handling phone etiquette professionally, and organizing meetings.

Experience

  • Paralegal experience or equivalent legal administrative experience in a law office setting is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of immigration law and litigation procedures.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms such as Westlaw is essential.
  • Experience with case management software like MyCase or similar tools is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence along with proofreading and transcription abilities.
  • Familiarity with document review processes and data entry accuracy to support case preparation and compliance requirements. Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
