Bid Writer – What You’ll Do
You will prepare construction estimates and bids for construction projects for the rebuilding and repair of multi-family Bay Area communities and HOA’s.
Construction projects include either exterior decay repair or interior renovations.

Estimating and bidding construction projects (you will likely perform estimates and prepare bids for 25+ projects a month)

Attend the job walk with the construction manager to gain a thorough understanding of the project

Manage and assist with the preparation of RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals

Perform plan take offs for scope of work

Review project plans and communicate with project subcontractors, providing them with necessary documentation

Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates figures

Interface with owner, contractors and others, to provide cost data regarding project feasibility

Following successful awarding of the contracts as assigned, manage the awarding of subcontracts and the creation of purchase orders

Coordinate the change order process, including but not limited to, assessing and documenting scope, estimating and pricing the change order, managing the creation and approval of the change order

Work very closely with the sales and production departments on customer interface
Plan for about 90% in office and 10% in the field (throughout San Jose area, no overnight travel).
Bid Writer – What You’ll Need (Required)

Experience working with MS Excel – you will use MS Excel to create construction bids using raw data and formulas / you are comfortable with technology and MS Excel formulas, using a computer to write construction bids

Passion for construction and exposure to performing estimates for construction projects (commercial, residential, electrical or other transferable experience)

Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, spec books (specifications) and plan drawings

Ability to work in the office in San Jose 5 days per week, M-F, and drive to field visits to perform estimation/bid duties on site throughout San Jose (company vehicle provided)
Bid Writer – What You Might Have (Not Required):

Knowledge of construction materials for exterior decay repair or interior renovations

Experience in construction sales cycle assisting with identifying new customers or the bid process (additional incentives provided for your participation in sales)

Familiarity with multifamily HOA construction projects
Compensation is $90,000 to $110,000. You will also be provided with a company vehicle that you take home and use for your travel, comprehensive medical benefits, paid time off and paid sick time, paid holidays, 401k and incentive bonus potential.
