Bilingual Counselor/Advocate (Haitian Creole or Khmer)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Provide bilingual one-on-one trauma-based counseling, on-site and in the community to increase survivor access to services
- Develop and facilitate bilingual survivor support groups rooted in psychoeducation, therapeutic, wellness and reflection, and/or skills-based practice
- Work to ensure survivor services are culturally relevant to survivors and communities that we serve and act as a liaison to raise awareness about sexual assault in multicultural community spaces
- Advocate for/with survivors, providing appropriate referrals and assistance as needed
- Conduct community and systems outreach including focus groups, surveying, and on-site group work within community organizations to better identify the needs and promote services for survivors
- Provide support to CHH’s events and outreach/tabling opportunities
- Provide monthly/quarterly data reports
- Support CHH’s 24-hour crisis response by participating in hotline, medical advocacy, and web-chat coverage.
- Help facilitate internal training programs, including CHH’s Rape Crisis Counselor training.
- Other related duties as determined
What We’re Looking For:
- Bilingual & bicultural (Khmer or Haitian Creole required)
- Previous experience in case management (required)
- B.A. in social work, psychology, sociology, community organizing, or related human services field. Or equivalent lesser degree and minimum 2 years’ experience
- 2-3 years of experience working in crisis intervention or systems-based advocacy services (e.g., medical, legal, public assistance, housing, etc.)
- Trained Rape Crisis Counselor or ability to begin training within 1 month of hire
- Experience working within social change movements and the work to end sexual violence
- Maturity, sound judgment and lived experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills
- Good computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases and evaluation tools, etc.
- Ability to travel within the Greater Lowell Area and within the state
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
