Location: Based in Watsonville, CA; positions will work in Santa Cruz County

Hours: 37 - 40 hours/week. Full-Time. Scheduled shifts may also include weekends and evenings

Rate of Pay: $24.00/hour - $25.00/hour

Benefits: Medical (employee share of cost depending on plan selected), vision, life, dental (employee pays half of dental) insurance, Retirement plan (401K plan after six months), 24 days annual leave to start, and 13 paid holidays per year.

General Duties: As part of CAB’s Special Projects Initiative, the Bilingual (Mixteco/Spanish and Spanish/English) Extended Outreach & Enrollment Specialist plays a key role in supporting labor rights advocacy, referrals, and public health enrollment initiatives in a fast-paced community setting. This position focuses on providing high-impact outreach, education, and enrollment assistance to community members on Labor Rights, Medi-Cal, and other Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) or public health services. Specialists will provide and plan for both in-person and virtual outreach, including live outreach, intake and eligibility services, support during the application process, and program data management. They will engage in diverse communication methods to achieve outreach goals, such as presentations, canvassing, phone banking, door-to-door engagement, social media content creation, and coordination with other CAB programs and community partners.

Duties include:

  • Conduct in-person and virtual outreach and education on labor rights and Medi-Cal eligibility/access.
  • Provide application support and client enrollment assistance throughout the process. • Perform high-volume outreach, including canvassing in high-traffic areas, door-to-door outreach, phone banking, and tabling at community events.
  • Use varied communication methods—including phone calls, Zoom, text messaging, and in-person interactions—to reach and engage diverse community members.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and participate in community events to educate and inform.
  • Create culturally appropriate digital content for social media and other outreach platforms.
  • Maintain accurate program records, data tracking, and reporting, and meet benchmarks, deadlines, and grant deliverables.
  • Travel frequently within the tri-county region to attend community events and partner locations.
  • Transfer program data into state-mandated reporting portals in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate and manage mass text communications, including responding appropriately, tracking new client engagement, and documenting opt-outs in compliance with data protocols.
  • Support safety planning and emergency response efforts, including assisting with child safety plans for undocumented families at risk of deportation.
  • Collaborate effectively across CAB programs and departments to ensure coordinated service delivery and unified outreach efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bilingual in Spanish/ English or Spanish/Mixteco • Minimum of one year of experience in outreach, education, enrollment, or case management (paid or volunteer) preferred.
  • Coursework, degree, or experience in human or social services strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerably housed populations, including those who are high-risk or trauma-affected.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and a strong interest in serving underrepresented communities.
  • Committed to upholding high ethical standards, with a strong sense of integrity, accountability, and personal responsibility in all aspects of the work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and data entry proficiency (REQUIRED); must be able to maintain accurate records and perform basic math functions.
  • Must uphold CAB’s Code of Conduct, particularly regarding confidentiality and professional communication.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
