We’re seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Bilingual Research Assistant to join our Los Angeles-based team. In this entry-level role, you’ll support research and evaluation projects that inform community-based programs and policies across focus areas such as health, education, aging & disabilities, and community services.


Reporting to the Research Associate, you’ll play a key role in maintaining high-quality research practices through data collection, auditing, processing, and logistical coordination. This position also provides essential administrative and operational support to promote data integrity and ensure the smooth execution of projects.


This position follows a Los Angeles–based hybrid work model, with a typical schedule of three days in the office and the remainder remote, plus occasional field visits (up to 5% of work time) based on organizational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in data collection via survey administration, focus groups, observations, phone interviews, and verification calls.
  • Program and test surveys.
  • Enter quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Coordinate logistics and participate in stakeholder/client meetings.
  • Take effective meeting, interview, and focus group minutes and distribute them among the team.
  • Schedule interviews and phone meetings.
  • Format documents, such as training materials and surveys, for Vital approved standards regarding communication, data visualization, and accessibility.
  • Coordinate printing and mailing of materials.
  • Manage computer tablets and laptop hardware and software.
  • Utilize mapping software to create data maps.
  • Audit and correct data errors to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Communicate with field staff and provide technical support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related social science field or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of research, data collection, or admin support experience; ideal for recent grads or those with academic/internship background. Coursework in research methods or statistics preferred.
  • Understanding of basic research and evaluation principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with tools such as Box, Zoom, Salesforce, or survey platforms is a plus.
