BILINGUAL (SPANISH) MEDICAL ASSISTANT for School Health Program

BILINGUAL (SPANISH) MEDICAL ASSISTANT (NOTE THAT THIS POSITION IS TO WORK IN A SCHOOL SETTING WITH SOME CLINICAL SETTING DURING SCHOOL CLOSURES)

(Full time with 1199 union benefits after 2 months probation)

Responsibilities: Observes general condition of patient. Immediately notifies provider of presence of acutely ill patients. Reviews charts for completeness before the patients are seen by the provider. Ensures that any laboratory test results or screening ordered at last visit is completed and documented. Able to perform phlebotomy functions. Demonstrates efficient use of work time. Prepares patient for examinations and assists when necessary. Assists provider with administering treatments. Records health indicators, (height & weight) vital signs, hearing and vision screening. Provides follow-up on missed appointments. Assists provider’s follow-up on all abnormal labs. Records all patient information in the electronic chart. Ensures that charts are accurate and up-to-date. Translates when necessary. Completes assignments with minimal or no supervision. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to perform other tasks as may be assigned. Recycle instruments according to shelf life. Performs other functions necessary for the proper functioning of the Council.

Qualifications: High School graduate or GED, preferred. Medical Assistant Certificate from Medical Assistant School. Knowledgeable and experienced in a hospital, medical center or health facility, knowledge of computers; and must function well within group settings. Must know Phlebotomy. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Bilingual: Spanish/English required. DOE fingerprinting (paid by applicant).

MUST HAVE a current and active National Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) through the National Health Career Association or Registered Medical Assistant Certification (through any nationally recognized agency) to be considered as an applicant.

Compensation: Competitive salary, 25.00 per hour Retirement (Retirement plan (1199 Pension)) Reimbursement for school
