Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Medical (Spanish Speaking) Assistant to join our Orthopaedics Team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. This position involves assisting healthcare professionals in a clinic atmosphere. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care while maintaining a smooth workflow within the clinic. This job will require you to travel between our offices in Oakbrook Terrace, Schaumburg and Elgin at times
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform basic patient care tasks, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations
- Perform intake on the patients and documenting patient information accurately in the EMR system
- Order x-rays
- Draw up injections
- Removal of sutures and staples
- Handle basic wound care/dressing changes
- Triaging/answering messages for the providers
- Making post op calls
- Dispense DME bracing
- Completion of disability paperwork
- Knowledge of policies and procedures
- Sterilization of instrumentation
- Support the healthcare team in managing patient flow
- Provide patient education as directed by the providers
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies
- Ordering inventory
- Applying and removing casts
- Listen and empathize with the patients
- Build relationships with the patients so that they remember a positive experience at our facility
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience in Orthopedics is a plus
- Medical terminology is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and medical staff
- Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic understand of anatomy and physiology, particularly related to the musculoskeletal system
- Drawing blood samples
