Summary
The Account Specialist - Floater will assist in ensuring that the company receives payment for goods and services offered to clients and entry of patient information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily tasks such as emailing skilled, hospital, hospice and Medicaid pending spreadsheets to all facilities.
- Update any status change of patients in the company database.
- Required to run log checks from prior day to review for errors.
- Entry of new patient admits and re-admits into company software efficiently and accurately. Must be able to verify information is entered correctly.
- Communicate with pharmacy staff regarding new information for residents and after patient admits have been entered.
- Submit daily admit log to the pharmacy by end of business each day.
- Receive resident census from facilities on a monthly basis and compare it to current listing within the company database to ensure accuracy of information.
- Maintain and update customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
- Serve as backup support for staff within the billing office.
- This position has access to PHI and must comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Comply with the company Corporate Compliance Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
- Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to create a compassionate and respectful environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work 100% on-site, with no remote options available as this role requires frequent, synchronous collaboration with other team members and supervisors.
- May have to work overtime with little or no notice as needed.
Required Physical Abilities:
- Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods, often for the majority of the workday.
- Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, such as typing on a keyboard.
- Visual Acuity: Good vision to read and interpret data on computer screens and documents.
- Communication: Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively during phone calls or meetings.
- Occasional Lifting: Capability to lift and carry light objects, typically up to 10 pounds.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the office to access files, office equipment, or attend meetings. Ability to bend and stoop.
- Posture: Maintaining proper posture to avoid strain or injury, often with the use of ergonomic furniture.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required and two years of prior experience in a professional medical office setting preferred.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting a plus.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
- Understanding of payers such as Medicare preferred.
- This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
