BIM Modeler - Mechanical/Plumbing

Required Skills and Expertise:

BIM Expertise:

Minimum 3-6 years of experience in BIM for mechanical systems (plumbing, wet side HVAC, and associated piping systems).

  • Full proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, including family creation, template usage, and advanced features.
  • Competency in Navisworks for clash detection, coordination, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with BIM 360 / ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) workflows.
  • Capable of developing fabrication-level shop drawings, not just design-intent models.
  • Ability to set up projects from scratch, including grids, levels, worksets, views, and sheets.

Mechanical Field Expertise:

  • Strong background in mechanical systems, including plumbing codes, wet-side HVAC systems (hydronic piping), pumps, valves, and fixtures.
  • Understanding of construction methods, installation sequencing, and field constraints.
  • Ability to interpret and apply contract drawings, specifications, and submittals.

Detailing & Documentation:

  • Able to produce accurate, coordinated, and constructible detailed models.
  • Develop clear and complete shop drawings ready for field use.
  • Annotate and dimension per company and industry standards.
  • Create and manage accurate schedules (e.g., equipment, valves, fixtures).

Coordination Skills:

  • Lead and participate in coordination meetings with other trades.
  • Identify and resolve clashes in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to propose constructible solutions when design constraints arise

Quality & Standards:

  • Adhere to company SOPs and established BIM execution plans.
  • Apply QA/QC processes throughout the modeling and documentation phases.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to liaise with project managers, engineers, and field staff.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail and a sense of ownership.

Education and Credentials:

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, related field, journeyman pipe fitting/plumber/welder, or will consider experience.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) are a plus.

Tools & Technology:

  • Autodesk Revit MEP (mandatory)
  • Autodesk Navisworks Manage (mandatory)
  • AutoCAD (optional but preferred)
  • Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF markup tool

Pass Federal Government security clearance (includes drug testing) and clean driving record.

Benefits:

· Compensation range is $80,000 to $150,000 per year depending on experience.
