POSITION SUMMARY
DEFINITION
Under general direction, perform preventive and corrective electronic maintenance on a variety of complex, medical, dental, laboratory and other types of equipment such as motors, pumps, valves, television sets, recorders, cameras and video tape machines.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is a journey level class. The incumbent performs a full range of tasks and work under direction within a framework of established procedures. At this level, incumbent work with only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is normally reviewed only on completion and for overall results.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:
Education
Post high school vocation with specialized training. Completion of an accredited Bio-Medical Equipment Technician training program or similar electrical training required.
Experience
Minimum Two years of experience in the repair of major electronic equipment, powered infusion pumps and similar equipment.
Licensure/Certification
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of the PHH, Inc.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Electronic theory.
Biological, electrical and mechanical quantities including blood pressure, ECG, blood gas analyzers.
Ability to:
Test electronic equipment.
Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Repair necessary reports and records.
