Bioprocessing Technician
(With Strong Desire to Change the World)

We are a rapidly growing biotechnology company currently expanding research, development and production facilities in Athens, Georgia. We manufacture bio-based polymers with a goal of replacing (yes, replacing) petroleum-based plastics. Our biopolymers are completely bio-based, made from renewable resources that are 100% biodegradable, compostable and recyclable.
We are currently seeking qualified individuals for several Bioprocessing Technician positions. Individuals selected for these positions will become members of our Bioprocessing Teams, operating the research, development and production scale fermentors, bioreactors and downstream processing equipment. You know, world-changing stuff.
Specific Duties Include:
Serve as valuable member of Bioprocessing Teams, working effectively to meet goals, objectives and complete tasks to achieve desired results- Conduct studies on cells, proteins, viruses, or other biological substances to determine optimal conditions for growth or inhibitors that can stop or kill.
- Conduct experiments to observe interactions of raw materials with each other and in specific environments.
- Successful completion of assigned tasks, which include cleaning, sterilizing, and prepping equipment for microbiology/fermentation research and development activities
- Provide timely and accurate verbal and written communication to team members
- Work with other team members to prioritize tasks/assignments and make recommendations to maximize efficiency/productivity based on project needs.
- Successful candidates must be flexible to work day and night shifts. (Trust us, you won’t be alone—we all do whatever it takes to change the world!)
Skills Required:
- Must possess solid problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and team-based skills
- Demonstrated experience/knowledge working in a bioprocessing/biotechnology facility
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Understand basic laboratory protocols/procedures, including basic bioprocessing and fermentation techniques, major unit operations and microbial control concepts
- Must be computer proficient and have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Basic maintenance skills and good mechanical aptitude
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize workload
- Strong desire to change the world
Education:
- Degree in life sciences or biochemical or chemical engineering, or
- Technical College certificate in bioprocessing or related field, or
- Equivalent work experience will be considered
