Job Overview
The Senior Manager of Learning & Development, Life Sciences, will lead the development of vocational and professional curriculum for life sciences-focused occupational pathways that will be created through BioCrossroads’ Life Sciences Industry Talent Association – a key player in the statewide INCAP (Indiana Youth Apprenticeship Pathway) initiative. This position will work with industry, K-12 schools, intercompany training centers, and higher education institutions statewide to develop training plans, training manuals, structure learning concepts, and facilitate activities that promote learner success in apprenticeship pathways. This position will work closely with the Senior Director of Workforce Development, Life Sciences, in developing and implementing INCAP apprenticeships within the life sciences industry, working closely with key stakeholders to support program success.
The ideal candidate will have a background in learning and development or training AND life sciences (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, agrisciences, etc.) as well as program and project management experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for workforce development and education reform, have experience working with subject matter experts to develop trainings, and be goal-oriented and self-directed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design process for developing life sciences occupational pathways, following the Swiss dual-vocational and professional model, ensuring training modules are developed in alignment with life science industry needs
  • Develop curriculum and course content, including work-based learning curriculum, that will be embedded within life sciences apprenticeships
  • Evaluate current educational assets throughout the state that can be leveraged within life sciences apprenticeships, and identify educational gaps where curriculum will need to be developed
  • Identify and evaluate potential partners to serve as designated intercompany training centers for the life sciences pathways
  • Provide ongoing assessment of the partners’ performance in meeting INCAP standards and industry needs
  • Update curriculum and course content, as needed, as standards and industry needs evolve
  • Implement curriculum standards and monitor the consistent formatting, content, assessment, and teaching requirements of the program
  • Ensuring the INCAP life sciences apprenticeship experiences meet the standards of the new Indiana high school diploma, as well as the requirements of the identified certifications
  • Engage and build relationships with high schools, CTE centers, colleges/universities, and industry partners, serving as the Life Sciences Industry Talent Association’s curriculum and education expert
  • Develop courses and student schedules in conjunction with partners for implementation across the state
  • Train and support instructional staff who teach within the apprenticeships (at schools, intercompany training centers, and at employers)
  • Partner with other INCAP apprenticeship programs, assuring course and curriculum standards are consistent
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the BioCrossroads’ team and the larger Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) teams
  • Collaborate ongoing with internal and external partners and stakeholders and demonstrate stakeholder management
  • Contribute to other duties and tasks assigned as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, education, or a related field
  • Additional degree and/or equivalent years of experience in learning and development or training
  • Demonstrated experience and success in project management
  • Ability to analyze information and develop plans/solutions based on information
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for workforce development and education
