Bistro Attendant

The Courtyard by Marriott, located in Matthews, NC, is hiring for a full-time Bistro Attendant. The person hired for this position will need flexibility to work 5am-11am or 4:30pm-10:30pm; weekday and weekend availability is required. This position receives an hourly wage plus tips.

ABOUT COURTYARD BISTRO: The Bistro at Courtyard is a chic, fast-casual concept restaurant offering an eclectic menu including a variety of refreshing to-go options as well as full sit-down fare including cocktails, wine, beer, and Starbucks coffee.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Bistro Attendant is responsible for assisting customers in the Courtyard Bistro, and all catering outlets, in an efficient and courteous manner. Effectively promotes the Bistro, takes orders, and prepares/delivers food and beverage orders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Bistro Team Members master a wide variety of food & beverage functions, from serving coffee and other beverages (including alcohol), to preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. This position processes all orders and collects payment from customers, and provides assistance in food & beverage areas including busing, cleaning, resetting tables, and delivering food to guests. This position also performs general cleaning and maintenance of food and beverage prep areas, counts the bank at end of shifts, and follows property control audit standards and cash handling procedures.

• Cleans, sets up, stocks, and maintains work areas
• Takes customer orders, inputs orders into order system, obtains payment and provides change
• Prepares coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages, including alcohol (during PM Shifts)
• Prepares food in a timely manner, according to brand standards, using a rapid cook/hybrid oven
• Provides assistance in Food & Beverage areas including busing, cleaning and resetting tables
• Performs general cleaning of food & beverage prep areas and other areas within the lobby area
• Counts bank at end of shift, completes designated cashier reports, resolves any discrepancies, drops off receipts, and secures bank
• Other duties as assigned by Management

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous Courtyard Bistro experience or similar food outlet experience (e.g. Panera, Starbucks) preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent require
• Friendly, outgoing, customer service – oriented personality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Hands-on experience with cash register and POS systems
• Able to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to read and process orders as they appear on the screen
• Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain certification
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks when needed

JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position work primarily indoors. Employees work in a customer-facing environment, and must be able to provide excellent customer service at all times. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements. Employees must be able to walk, stand, bend, and sometimes lift up to 50 pounds.
