LaClare Creamery is seeking a dependable, detail‑oriented Bistro Prep Cook to support our kitchen. This hands‑on culinary role is perfect for someone who enjoys preparing quality food, working in a guest‑facing environment, and contributing to a welcoming dining experience.

As a Bistro Prep Cook, you will prepare a variety of menu items, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, manage food inventory, and assist with general kitchen operations—all while delivering an excellent customer experience.

Location: Malone, WI – 100% on site
Reports to: Retail Manager
Typical Hours: Hours between 10am – 4pm; approximately 15-20 hours per week. Must be able to work weekends and hours may vary depending on events. Our Retail Shop is open Sunday - Saturday with varying hours depending on the season.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare high‑quality, menu items for guests.
  • Perform a variety of food preparation tasks including sandwich making, carving meats and cheeses, making soups or salads, preparing breads or desserts, and brewing coffee, tea, or other drinks.
  • Grill, cook, and garnish menu items such as eggs, French toast, roast meats, poultry, soups, and cheese boards.
  • Coordinate the timing of orders so items for the same ticket are completed at the same time.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food prep equipment, work areas, counters, and overall kitchen environment to meet high sanitation standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of food items and assist with restocking and rotating products.
  • Stamp dates on food items and ensure proper storage and handling at all times.
  • Participate in dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning tasks.
  • May take and serve guest orders at counters or tables when needed.
  • Promote company values and culture drivers.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift 5–25 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques, equipment, and safe food‑handling and storage practices.
  • Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost awareness, and efficiency in a kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and multitask in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Prior food service or kitchen experience (preferred).
  • Reliable, responsible, and consistently dependable work habits.
  • Experience with point of sale (POS) systems (preferred).
