Job Summary:
The Blacksmith is responsible for heating, shaping, and forging metal to produce or repair tools, components, and structures. This role requires strong technical skill, precision, and knowledge of metal properties to create durable and high-quality products that meet project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Heat and shape metals such as steel, iron, and aluminum using forges, hammers, anvils, and other tools.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components, tools, hardware, and structural parts.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work specifications.
- Operate power hammers, grinders, drills, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform finishing processes such as quenching, tempering, polishing, and coating.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, strength, and quality standards.
- Maintain tools, machinery, and work areas in good condition.
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other trades to complete custom metalwork projects.
- Keep records of materials used and work completed.
