Blowing Snow Control Designer | Salary Range: $31.11 - $45.98 / hourly; $64,957 - $96,006 / annually

This position may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
Our Blowing Snow Control Designer position helps manage projects that support MnDOT’s Blowing Snow Control Shared Services Program. The position works on complex tasks related to right of way, computer-aided design (CAD), and visual planning. Position responsibilities include:
· Confirm if blowing snow is a problem in certain areas by working with Snow Fence Coordinators.
· Collect and analyze Minnesota winter weather data.
· Visit sites, review aerial photos, and measure open areas to estimate how much snow might blow onto roads.
· Use elevation data and wind patterns to figure out where snow drifts are likely to form.
· Use tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, ArcMap (GIS), and GPS to complete plan package assembly for blowing snow control plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
· Work with public and private landowners to find practical solutions for snow control.
· Create reports, maps, and plans to help reduce blowing snow on roads.
· Help inspect construction work and use the Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) to track snow control measure installations.
Weekly travel within the northwest region of Minnesota is required, typically once a week. Approximately 20% of time will be spent in the field performing site reviews, providing construction inspection technical assistance, landowner engagement, and snow fence TAMS inspections.

Here are the Minimum Qualifications:
Three years para-engineering experience (Transportation Specialist or equivalent) demonstrating:
