Blueberry Packing Facility Manager

Blueberry Packing Facility Manager- July through September

Willow Wind Organic Farms is seeking a manager to operate our blueberry packing facility from late June or early July through September or early October each year. Our facility is located on our farm 25 miles NW of Spokane on the Spokane river and will operate 3 to 5 days a week depending upon ripening of the crop. The sorting and packaging is completely automated with state of the art machinery. We generally run a crew of 6 to 7 workers along with the manager who will be responsible for managing the crew, testing for quality of the packed fruit and adjusting sorting machinery accordingly, tracking production and ensuring fruit is properly labeled and stored or shipped as needed. Generally the shed runs for about 8 hours per day starting at 7AM or so each day we operate.

Successful applicant will need to commit to staying through the season and our ideal manager would be someone looking to be able to come back each year to run the shed as there is a learning curve. Ideal for a retired or semi-retired person who seeks some additional employment but doesn’t need year around work, has experience managing a crew and the ability to carefully track production with good attention to detail as well as to ensure complete cleaning and sanitation of the equipment following each pack day. No experience with blueberries necessary as we will train but any previous experience with packing facilities would be a plus.
