Location: Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS), Little Rock, Arkansas (On-site)

Schedule & Hours

  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Total Annual Hours: 1,248 hours
  • On-site coverage during standard VA clinic hours

Federal Holidays: The position follows the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) federal holiday schedule. No clinical services are required on VA-observed federal holidays, unless otherwise directed by the VA due to emergency operations or urgent patient care needs.

Position Overview: The contractor physician will provide comprehensive dermatology services to eligible Veteran patients at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). Services will be delivered in accordance with VA policies, nationally recognized clinical standards, and best practices comparable to a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient dermatology services to VA beneficiaries
  • Diagnose and treat a broad range of skin conditions
  • Perform dermatologic procedures including:
  • Skin biopsies
  • Dermatologic surgical procedures (excluding Mohs surgery)
  • Serve as the attending physician for all assigned dermatology services

Standards of Care & Compliance

  • Deliver care meeting or exceeding:
  • American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) clinical guidelines
  • Joint Commission (TJC) standards
  • VA and nationally recognized healthcare standards
  • Ensure timely patient evaluations and consult completions in accordance with VA wait-time requirements
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation per VA policies

Operational Responsibilities

  • Be present on-site and prepared to begin services at scheduled clinic start times
  • Coordinate with VA clinical staff and leadership as required
  • Notify the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) of any obstacles impacting performance metrics

Required Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (VHA-approved or equivalent)
  • Experience providing dermatology services in hospital-based or comparable clinical settings
  • Ability to independently perform duties as an attending physician within the granted scope of practice and privileges

Credentialing & Compliance Requirements

  • Maintain all professional licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirements
  • Successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging prior to the start of services
  • Comply with all VA facility policies, federal healthcare regulations, and security requirements

  • This is a contract-based position and does not constitute VA or company employment
  • Compensation is based on an hourly contract rate
  • Services are provided on-site at the VA facility
  • Contract performance is subject to the terms and conditions of the federal contract, including base and option periods

Security & Background Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) security and suitability requirements. The contractor physician must successfully complete a VA background investigation, credentialing, and privileging process prior to the start of services.Access to VA facilities, systems, and patient information is contingent upon approval of the required background checks and issuance of appropriate VA credentials and identification.No active security clearance (e.g., Secret or Top Secret) is required; however, the individual must meet all VA suitability and security screening requirements in accordance with federal regulations.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $120,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
