Position Overview

The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified Pathologist to join the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, high-quality Pathology services to Veterans, maintaining the highest standards of patient care in accordance with the American Board of Pathology (ABPATH).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of Anatomic Pathology services, with a focus on Surgical Pathology.
  • Meet turnaround time requirements as defined by VHA Pathology policy and performance measures.
  • Document patient care directly in the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) and Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic services.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology (American Society for Clinical Pathology).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, completed within the last three years.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Computer literacy, with the ability to work in an electronic medical record system.
  • Must meet VA credentialing, licensure, and background investigation requirements.

Each candidate submission must include the following:

Current Resume/CV – Must include detailed information on medical education, residency/fellowship training, board certifications, clinical experience, and any relevant academic or research background.

Active Medical License – Copy of a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.

BLS/CPR Certification – Copy of a current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Education Verification – Documentation of completed medical degree (MD or DO), including transcripts or diploma from an LCME- or AOA-accredited institution. Include verification of completed residency and fellowship (if applicable).

Signed Functional Statement – VA-provided Physician Functional Statement must be signed and returned prior to candidate review.

Planned Leave Disclosure – Agencies must disclose any planned leave (vacation, CME, etc.) during the candidate’s first 13 weeks of assignment.

Work/Education Gaps – Explanation of any gaps in education or work history, including dates and reasons for the gap (e.g., personal, academic, health, sabbatical).

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • No weekends, holidays, or overtime required.

Pay: $227.00 - $229.00 per hour
