Boat Captain (Fishing) for Ras al Kaimah

Job Summary

The Boat Captain has to ensure that all legal and company standards are adhered to in both the boat and the crew, paying particular attention to any environmental issues such as oil spills or the emission of any other pollutants. Working within Boat Captain you will be responsible for the safety of the crew, and so the Captain must regularly inspect boat to assess whether they are seaworthy, and whether any machinery on-board is safe for use. Experience within sector and technical knowledge of the boat is required to be successful in this career, as is an in-depth understanding of tides, navigation and the effects of weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

· To Steer and operate vessels.

· Reports Directly to Team Supervisor in charge.

· Inspects the boat to ensure efficient and safe operation of vessels and equipments are conformance to regulations.

· Maintain records of daily activities, fuel log reports, boat condition and movements, weather and sea conditions etc.

· Arrange for the boat to be fuelled and/or repaired if need be.

· Maintain boats and equipment on board, such as engines, winches, navigational systems, fire extinguishers, and radio for communication purposes.

· Read gauges to verify sufficient levels of hydraulic fluid, air pressure, and oxygen.
Sort and form logs.

· The Boat Captain has overall responsibility for the safety of the vessel, day to day running and must operate the boat with care. He is responsible for the ultimate safety of the customers as well.

· Daily boat inspection should be logged. Particular attention should be paid to identifying potential hazards, and checking the maintenance and status of the vessel is very important.

· Safe working conditions and operating practices must be established on board. The safety equipment provided must be used, including the use of properly adjusted safety harnesses when working aloft or outboard.

· The boat must at all times be operated in compliance with all applicable local and international regulations.

· The cleanliness, appearance and running of all the boat are essential. The Boat Captain is also in charge of cleaning the boat and he is also expected to help the crew in all job responsibilities when not driving.

· Ensuring that all routines and disciplines described herein and any additional ones promulgated by the owner are adhered to.

· Ensuring that before the vessel goes to sea she is correctly prepared.

· The Boat Captain is responsible for the running, maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, the operation of the onboard communications systems and computers etc. He must also know and apply emergency management protocol at sea.

· He is responsible for all fuelling procedures and safe bunkering procedure
The Boat Captain must give regular log reports to the condition of the vessel.

· Consumption of alcohol and controlled substances is strictly forbidden. If found under the influence of alcohol or any drug, the employee will be fired without further notice.

· Determining the needs of the Customers and showing them the range of services, products and rides available.

· Assisting Customers before, during and after activities.

· Providing the Customers the highest standard of service by answering queries and by providing information about our product and services in a polite and respective manner.

· Ensuringthat best services are done all the time.

· Wearing uniforms at all times. Maintaining professional and business like appearance. Following the grooming standard policy of the company.

· Maintain awareness of and continually practice safe work habits and complies with the company policy handbook.

· Not smoking or drinking liquor during official working hours.

· Reporting every incident to the Management or HR Department. To avoid any fights within the group.

· Perform the duties as agreed and undertake work in accordance with the given Job Description but not limited to.

· While on duty you will be required to wear proper / appropriate dress code in accordance with your work designation. At all times you will be expected to look neat, clean and professional and according to standards of 5* hotel. No long hair, No earrings, tattoo, mustache / beard, long nails and no jewelry or any accessories of any kind.

· Provide a high level of customer service in the completion of all job duties.

· Read and follow through Operating Manuel Books and also follow Employee Hand Book.

Qualifications

  • You must be educated to degree level and may also be required to hold any qualifications associated with the operation of a boat.
  • You must be a licensed mariner with experience as a Port Captain, Cargo Planner or other Maritime experience.
  • A Ship or Boat Captain must have in-depth knowledge of cargo storage, vessel maintenance and navigation.
  • The Boat Captain must have strong man-management skills as the role is centered on the efficient coordination of crewmembers and the maintaining of a satisfied crew who are in line with company requirements.
  • To be successful as a Boat Captain in Maritime, you must be organized and have a strong eye for detail, able to find any reason why the vessel may not be seaworthy or any machinery would be dangerous, or to deal with any problems effectively in open sea.
  • Honest and responsible.

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED3,000.00 per month
