Boat Crew-Server & Bartender

JOB SUMMARY:

Join the crew aboard the La Crosse Queen and help create memorable experiences on the Mississippi River. In this seasonal role, you will provide exceptional hospitality through food and beverage service, bartending, guest engagement, and onboard support during sightseeing and dining cruises.

This position plays a vital role in guest satisfaction by ensuring passengers feel welcomed, cared for, and entertained throughout their cruise experience. Responsibilities include serving beverages, preparing cocktails and drinks, assisting with food service, maintaining clean guest areas, and helping create a fun and enjoyable onboard atmosphere.

Team members may also have the opportunity to train as a First Mate, which includes additional docking and line-handling responsibilities.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide excellent customer service
• Greet guests
• Take and serve drink orders, partial food service, and keep tables tidy at all times
• Quickly clean up in between cruises and set up for food cruises in a timely manner
• Deliver checks and collect payments
• Cooperate and communicate with coworkers, caterer and caterer staff, supervisors, and front desk staff
• U.S. Coast Guard safety training
• Provide information to customers on cruises with a narrated tour

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A passion for being outside and by the river
• Driver’s License
• Outgoing, organized, and a clear communicator
• Familiar working in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with a cash register and card machine
• Team player
• High school diploma required; relevant coursework from an accredited college or university strongly preferred
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, opening, and closing shifts as necessary

Compensation & Perks

• Starting base pay: $12.00 per hour
• Crew members participate in a shared tip pool on each cruise
• tips, typically range between $15.00–$50.00 per cruise depending on cruise volume, position, and guest traffic
• End-of-season retention bonus of $0.50 for every hour worked

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed while standing, sitting, or walking with occasional bending, reaching, and the lifting and occasional carrying of boxes weighing up to 25lbs. Work is performed in an adequately ventilated and lighted boat. This position is both an indoor and outdoor job with occasional exposure to a variety of other tasks that include outdoor conditions and exposure to weather.
