BOD Microbiology Analyst

We’re seeking a full time BOD/Microbiology Department Analyst with great attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, multitasking experience, and proficiency in working with a team for a second shift position. The hours are approximately 1:30PM -10:00PM Monday-Friday, with an additional short Saturday or Sunday shift of 4 hours or less; weekend shift is mandatory. Must be able to work full time / 40 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

The candidate will be provided with training and responsible for:

• Working as the secondary BOD and Bacteria analyst,
• Processing environmental BOD and Microbiological samples according to EPA approved methods,
• Using sterile technique for the analysis of bacteria and Quality Control samples,
• Completing appropriate logbooks for proper documentation in our Laboratory database,
• Accurately performing all methods and quality control procedures,
• Preparation of reagents and media as necessary,
• Complying with and maintaining all quality requirements and Standard Operating Procedures,
• Adhering to the scheduled timeframe for analysis of samples to meet sample hold times,
• Maintaining a clean and orderly lab space,
• Proper handling of laboratory equipment and instruments,
• And following Phoenix safety protocols at all times.

Applicant may be standing for the majority of the shift, while equipped in company-provided personal protective gear and working with a variety of chemicals and environmental samples, which may have strong odors and fumes. Must be able to lift up to 30lbs., some lifting and crouching may be required.

SALARY

$18+ per hour to start.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology (or related Science field) which includes a college level Microbiology class or environmental microbiology lab experience is required.
