Bond/ Removal Defense Attorney

Position: Removal Defense Attorney

We are seeking a full-time immigration attorney to join our removal defense team. You’ll represent immigrants in EOIR proceedings, bond hearings, and defensive applications for relief.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in bond hearings, removal proceedings, and related immigration court proceedings with confidence and professionalism
  • Develop and implement strategic defense plans tailored to each client’s unique circumstances
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case arguments
  • Prepare detailed legal documents, including motions, affidavits, and pleadings with precision and clarity
  • Negotiate with government agencies and opposing counsel to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
  • Maintain comprehensive case files and keep clients informed about case developments and legal options
  • Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to provide holistic support for clients facing removal

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing
  • Proven experience in immigration law, particularly in bond hearings and removal defense cases
  • Strong knowledge of immigration statutes, regulations, and procedures
  • Familiarity with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, and related tools
  • Excellent negotiation skills coupled with the ability to advocate effectively in court settings
  • Experience handling cases involving estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, workers’ compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, litigation, patent law, landlord-tenant law or other legal specialties is a plus but not required
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents
  • Legal administrative experience including managing case files and client communications

Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing in any U.S. state

(Preference for California, New Jersey, or New York – but not required)

  • Experience preferred (1–2 years), but strong candidates with clinical immigration law experience during law school are encouraged to apply
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred, but not required
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
  • Tech-savvy, organized, and comfortable working in a fully remote environment
