Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Book Keeper specializing in Construction accounting to join our team. In this role, you will manage the financial records and ensure accurate bookkeeping practices for construction projects. Responsibilities
- Maintain precise general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify the integrity of financial data across accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections aligned with project timelines.
- Conduct bank reconciliations using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems to match bank statements with internal records.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including budget analysis, project costing, and cash flow statements for management review.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and industry-specific standards like governmental or non-profit accounting when applicable.
- Handle tax-related tasks such as preparing documentation for audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
- Utilize technical accounting skills for complex transactions involving double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Support budgeting activities by analyzing expenses against forecasts and providing insights for cost control measures.
- Use various accounting software tools to streamline bookkeeping processes and improve data accuracy.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with a focus on construction or related industries is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with Quicken is a plus.
- Familiarity with technical accounting concepts like journal entries, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and general ledger management.
- Experience in public accounting or working within a construction environment is advantageous.
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and reconcile financial data efficiently.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts including budgeting, financial report writing, and account analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks such as 10 key typing, data entry, and document management accurately.
