Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: 521 West 57th Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10019

Compensation: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year (commensurate with experience)

Position Type: Full-Time (On-site, Monday–Friday)

Job Overview:

The International Multiple Sclerosis Management Practice (IMSMP) is seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of accounting, hands-on QuickBooks experience, and a deep understanding of financial processes. This role supports daily financial operations, monthly closings, and annual audits, and plays a key part in maintaining accurate and timely financial records across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounts payable functions including invoice entry, vendor file maintenance, W9 collection, and matching purchasing/shipping documentation
  • Record donations, grants, and other income; reconcile daily deposits
  • Accurately record EFTs, ACHs, and check payments into QuickBooks in a timely manner
  • Maintain the general ledger across multiple QuickBooks classes
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries
  • Reconcile intercompany and affiliate transactions across three organizations
  • Prepare monthly and annual accounting close packages for COO review
  • Reconcile contribution records with Development Director’s monthly data
  • Prepare and efile annual 1099s for independent contractors and vendors
  • Assist in annual external audits and financial reviews
  • Support the COO with monthend closing and financial statement preparation
  • Provide administrative support to management as needed
  • Perform other related projects or tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Experience with payroll and benefits administration (Paychex Online a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment
  • Experience supporting management in an administrative capacity
  • Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and highly professional
