Position Title: Bookkeeper
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Sikeston, MO (On-site only – No remote work)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Salary Range: Mid to high $30,000s to low $40,000s (Negotiable based on education and proven experience)

Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily accounting tasks, and supporting the organization’s financial operations. This role supports compliance with nonprofit financial practices and grant requirements. Required associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent, or with 3-5 years of proven Bookeeping experience may substitute for a degree.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general bookkeeping duties, managing the general ledger and preparing journal entries.
• Process accounts payable and receivable promptly and accurately.
• Manage payroll processing, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
• Monitor and track grant-funded programs to ensure expenses are correctly allocated and reported.
• Reconcile bank statements, including online banking, and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Support the preparation of financial reports for leadership, funding, and audits.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent or with 3-5 years of proven Bookkeeping experience may substitute for a degree.

• Proven experience in accounting and bookkeeping, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and grant management.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Experience in payroll processing and managing accounts payable/receivable.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Familiarity with general accounting principles.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods.
