Bookkeeper

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will help support the organization’s financial health through precise bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. Duties

  • Record and process journal entries using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken to ensure accurate financial data entry.
  • Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify account balances and identify discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and budget analyses for internal review.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, tax filings, and governmental reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting processes and provide account analysis to support financial decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and internal controls while supporting audits and external reviews.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; familiarity with GAAP is essential.
  • Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger management.
  • Experience working within non-profit or governmental accounting environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts such as account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and budget management.
  • Ability to perform high-volume data entry with 10 key typing skills while maintaining accuracy.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing, tax compliance, and governmental reporting requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in account reconciliation and financial report writing.
