A. Position Description:
The Bookkeeper position includes bookkeeping responsibilities (payroll, accounts receivable, tax preparation, and administration) and following and complying with Diocesan finance policy and procedure accountability. The diocese or pastor may occasionally require other assignments or accounting analysis.
· Employees must be proficient in QuickBooks.
· Responsible for maintaining accurate and auditable financial records, including weekly deposits and accounts payable
· Generate monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including maintenance of deductions and other liabilities (taxes, etc.)
· Responsible for federal and state payroll taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually
· Monthly reconciliation of bank statements and year-end reporting
· Generate special reports as requested by the Parish Finance committee
· Assist the Parish Finance board with budget requests, quarterly reports, and quarterly budget reports to ministry leaders.
· Work with the Office Manager regarding updates and general information for the staff relating to benefit/pension changes as required

B. Work Schedule:
The regular work schedule is up to 20-23 hours per week during office hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday or (3 consistent days out of Monday-Friday) from 9 am to 5 pm. Any alterations to the schedule must be communicated to the Office Manager or Pastor. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or another personal emergency. The Office Manager or Pastor will need to pre-approve any additional work hours.
C. Job Requirements:
The following requirements are generally required for the performance of this position. 1. Physical Requirements: This position normally requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.
2. Risk involved with travel on main highways, side streets, and rural roads during business travel, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel, enter, and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Random drug tests may be performed.
3. Non-Physical Requirements:
a. Education
1) At least two years of bookkeeping training (i.e., Business college degree or A.A. with an emphasis in accounting)
2) A B.S. in accounting or business is preferred but not required.
3) Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
b. Experience
1) At least two years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with QuickBooks software.
2) Experience in the operation of computers with competency in Word and Excel.
D. Special Skills
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
